Do you want to make a difference in rural healthcare?
The Tuanku Fauziah Fellowship in Rural Medicine takes you to Malaysia's most remote communities, where your skills can transform lives. Working alongside consultants around the country, you’ll gain hands-on experience in tropical medicine and innovative healthcare delivery.
This two-week fellowship is arranged in partnership with College of Physicians of Malaysia (COPM) and Malaysian Advanced Acute Internal Medicine and Ultrasound Society. They will be able to help you in arranging accommodation and coordinating placements in rural hospitals and health clinics.
Eligibility requirements
- A physician appointed to your first substantive consultant post within the last two years or
- A physician making short visits to learn new medical techniques or work in centres developing a rural medicine service or
- A higher medical trainee (resident) physician who has not started a consultant post.
All applicants must have trained in the United Kingdom.
Travel must take place after the award is made as retrospective requests cannot be accepted.

If you’re successful, you’ll need to write a full report of your experience. This report will be retained in the College Library and might be published on our website. You may also be invited to present your findings to the COPM Annual Scientific Congress.
Applications will be reviewed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow Scholarship Committee, COPM and the Malaysian Advanced Acute Internal Medicine and Ultrasound Society.
